DETROIT, March 29 (UPI) -- Charges against several people arrested in a string of weekend raids in three Midwest states would be unsealed Monday in Detroit, federal officials said.
A least seven people were arrested in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
Mike Lackomar, a county leader for the Southeast Michigan Volunteer Militia, said one raid was on a group called the Hutaree, which says on its Web site it is "preparing for the end-time battles to keep the testimony of Jesus Christ alive."
Lackomar said Hutaree members were calling him, saying their land in southwest Michigan was being raided by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Sun-Times reported.
"They said they were under attack by the ATF and wanted a place to hide," Lackomar said. "My team leader said, 'No thanks.' "
The team leader was cooperating with the FBI, Lackomar said, adding that his organization was not affiliated with Hutaree.
A law enforcement source would not confirm Hutaree members were among those arrested.
The FBI had not revealed details of the raids except to say they were unrelated to any terrorist plot or the recent threats made against several congressional members, CNN reported.
