Musician Ted Nugent, during a visit to his granddaughter's Catholic school, told the children to stay away from drugs, alcohol and tobacco. At the end of his motivational speech, a student asked about global warming.
"Global warming is a fraud. Watch Glenn Beck," said Nugent, 61, Monday in Royal Oak, Mich., referring to the conservative Fox-TV show host, according to a story in The Oakland Press.
Nugent, an outspoken gun rights Republican whose book Ted, White and Blue: The Nugent Manifesto was published in 2008, did not elaborate. In a recent commentary, however, he said President Obama shouldn't waste money by trying to reduce greenhouse gas emissions:
Here's how we save this cash: We agree the earth warms and cools. We admit that warming and cooling is a naturally occurring cycle that has to do with the sun and that there is nothing we can do about it. We admit Al Gore is a fraud and a global warming Ponzi-schemer. Then we take back Al's Grammy and documentary award.

But what about Beck? Nugent might be disappointed to know that in a recent interview with USA Weekend, Beck sounded eco-friendly and suggested global warming is real:
"You'd be an idiot not to notice the temperature change," he says. He also says there's a legit case that global warming has, at least in part, been caused by mankind. He has tried to do his part by buying a home with a "green" design and using energy-saving products. "I'm willing to do anything but use the CFLs," he says of compact fluorescent light bulbs. "I put them in once and couldn't stand the way they lit up the room."
